It’s Groundhog Day!!!

Happy Groundhog’s Day! Is the US the only country that celebrates this odd little holiday?
Our oldest celebrates her birthday today, and she is often asked on her special day if she saw her shadow when she woke up. I try to refrain from asking the question, as she’s developed a wicked eye-roll for occasions when she knows that adults are just being too silly for their own good.
Our local children’s museum, Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, holds a ceremony each year for Groundhog’s Day, and this is the first year that we made it out for the festivities! We all bundled up for the occasion, very thankful for the provisions of trash bags to sit on and keep our tushies dry (it was snowing), and awaited the prediction of Ivy the groundhog.
Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson, of our local station, WHIO, served as the master of ceremonies and informed us of Ivy’s prediction that we would be in for an early spring. I’m not holding my breath.
Simpson very generously posed for a photo with the birthday girl, and I think this was a great start to her special day!
Do you have any birthday/holiday combinations and special traditions on those days?

One of my kids like to pretend that his birthday is Feb 29th. FOr some reason he thinks that’s a cool day to have a birthday–though Groundhog Day is good too. Love the movie.
Michelle: Did you convince him that he only gets a party once every four years?
