Ja-Ru Magic Grow Capsules

jarupl.jpgHave your kids ever played with these little Magic Grow Capsules? I think they’re an odd toy, and I really wonder who thought, “Let’s make a toy that looks like a multi-colored pill, but that transforms into crab-shaped sponges when put in water.”

Whoever it was, though, they have a good thing going. My kids are fascinated by these little morphing capsules. I don’t get it, but they are cheap and entertaining. And I think that they might even make good stamps for the next time we pull out the tempera paints. I’ll let you know how that turns out. :)

If you decide to give them a try, do keep them away from the little kids. They really do look a bit like something to eat, and they are specifically listed ages 4 and up.

Have you tried any of these toys? Do you have any fun uses for the sponges once they’ve finished morphing?

    I like your painting idea!

I hate having them lying around, especially since I don’t want my younger child playing with them. I usually put them away after some time and then if that is not noticed, into the trash they go!

  2. Mom: I may have to try the “disappearing” trick! I really don’t think they’d notice. :) Thanks for commenting.

Capsules take to long to dissolve – but I could have a short attention span (kinda like a seven year old). From the safari animals, the ant-eater looks like a crab, and the hippo looks like a dying crocodile! Maybe get a better template or use a sharper cookie cutter next time. Otherwise I love them. Waiting for the genetically cloned barnyard (all sheep, I guess) series to come out.

I always put them in my mouth to dissolve them as a kid. Me and my cousin loved them but i think if we had put them in water it would not have been as much fun. Not saying give it to a 4 yr old and be like suck on this but i believe i was 6 and my cousin 9 and we use to do it all the time

These Magic Grow capsules are HORRIBLE!!!!! The best ones are the ones Made in America: Instant Farm, Instant Zoo, Instant Prehistoric, Instant Sealife and many other issues by Instant Products. Magic Grow is a cheap imitation that will not dissolve when put in water. They are a big waste of money!!!
