John Ritter as Clifford

It seems that, with every new kids’ movie we see, my husband and I spend the first few minutes saying, “I know that voice! Who is that?”
Although it was released in 2004, we just saw Clifford’s Really Big Movie for the first time this summer (and about a hundred times since, because my oldest son’s pick for a movie is always, “Clifford with the cow!”).
The movie features the voices of many famous actors, such as John Ritter, Wayne Brady, Jenna Elfman, John Goodman, and Judge Reinhold. I don’t think we would have guessed all of the voices on our own.
The special features include a “Behind the Scenes” clip, which was bittersweet to watch when they were interviewing John Ritter. The favorite special feature of my kids’ is “Cleo’s Crafts,” a couple of which I promised them we would make one of these days. Maybe Clifford would be a good birthday party theme, and we could make them then!
BTW-Have you voted in our poll, yet?

Good idea on the birthday party! I wonder if he’ll still remember Clifford with the cow in seven weeks?
I hope so. The question is, will my frail brain remember this when we’re trying to think of what to do for his birthday?!?!?!?!
I miss the times when children’s cartoons didn’t have big-name actors doing the voices. The story had to be good, and the movie was actually advertised based on the story (imagine that), not with commercials that basically just listed the Hollywood celebrities in the cartoon.
It’s gotta be tough out there for voice actors these days.
I’m not saying that the Clifford movie wasn’t good, though - I haven’t seen it. Just being nostalgic.
Agreed. And it’s distracting to me b/c I spend most of the time trying to figure out who’s who, rather than paying attention as to whether or not it’s a decent film for the kids! About the 10th time through the film, I actually notice the story. And the famous names are definitely a marketing scheme for the adults. My kids have no idea who they all are! Except for Ellen as Dory.
lol - so true! And once I figure out who the voice belongs to, I can’t enjoy the movie as much because I have their real-life image in my head!
SkylarKD: Me, too! Or I’m trying to picture them saying it the whole time. Very distracting.
