My Daughter Gives Ty Girlz a Thumbs Up!

I received a comment on this blog awhile ago about a product called Ty Girlz. I had never heard of it before but it definitely sounded like something my daughter would love. Boy was I right. I bought her one a few weeks ago and she’s been having a blast with it.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Ty Girlz, here’s some pictures of the some of the dolls.

Here’s a great description I received via email from the director of marketing, Matthew Boaten:

Ty Girlz are 14″ soft-sculpt dolls that are dressed in the latest trend- setting fashions that can be mixed and matched, and each outfit is completed with complimentary earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Ty Girlz have soft realistic hair that can be easily combed and made into many different styles. Each doll has its own signature color. Their clothes, hair and makeup are coordinated in monochromatic hues that give them a distinctive look and singular appeal.

Each Ty Girl comes with an individual scratch-off secret code which enables the collector to unlock the 3-D virtual world. Here girls can chat, play games, listen to music and just “hang out” in a forum that’s both fun and safe for kids. Tygirlz.com was the first virtual world targeted to girls when it launched.

Ty Girlz are female dolls manufactured by Ty Inc., the creator of Beanie Babies. Similar to the Ty Beanie Babies, the Ty Girlz are on a limited release pattern with new dolls being introduced and older ones being retired.

Ty Girlz has pushed reality even further by taking a specific doll, giving her a voice, and offering young girls a platform on which to interact with her – like a real person. The Ty Girlz “Punky Penny’z Fashion Corner” is a blog where “Punky Penny,” the Perez Hilton of toy land, dishes fashion tips and celebrity gossip. Check out www.punkypenny.com for more info.

My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed both the TyGirlz interactive website and also Punky Penny. She also just loves the doll and usually sleeps with it at night.

If you’re looking for a gift idea for your daughter and she likes this kind of thing, I think TyGirlz would be a big hit.

My daughter saw these the other day for the first time – and of course she loved them. They remind me a lot of their funky cousins the Groovy Girls.

Char: My daughter loves the Groovy Girls too. She’s already asking for another Ty Girlz doll. She got 3 webkinz for her birthday, so I am thinking I need to set a limit here pretty soon. :)

@vbnm – my daughter hasn’t asked anymore and also hasn’t been on the site in awhile. I think she forgot about it. I’ll have to remind her because I know she loved the website.
