Paper Animation Kits

FlyingPigObl400Did you know next month is Chinese New Year and that this coming Lunar New Year is the Year of the Golden Pig that supposedly only comes around every 600 years? Any child born in the Year of the Golden Pig is guaranteed wealth and success. I don’t really buy into the whole superstitious rigamarole. Sort of when pigs fly kind of thing which is why I’m sharing with you Flying Pig paper animation kits.

Even easier than the paper models I mentioned last week, these kits are pre-cut and can be glued together. I think I’ll order a few to do on a rainy day or pajama weekend. I know my son would love this Robot Man (check out the link for an animated gif!). There are also some free downloadable kitstoo.

I can’t help but think “golden pig” is appropriate for how much I ate this holiday season. :)

My brother lived in Taiwan for two years and speaks fluent Mandarin–just named his very blond tow-head daughter Xienli (if I’m spelling that correctly) and this sounds like a bit of trivia he’d come up with :) I’ll have to remember this one.

  2. Michelle: What a pretty name. :) Mine would actually be spelled Xian in today’s pinyin spelling (my spelling is Wade-Giles). BTW, there’s speculation that the Golden Pig Year thing is all made up to encourage people to have more kids. hahaa

Kerri: I ordered 3! I’ll try to take some step-by-step pictures if I don’t get too covered with glue or lose my mind.
