Okay, so, if you’ve known me for more than…say….5 minutes or so, you’ll know that I am not a lover of pink. Really. At all. However, I make exceptions for pink when it really matters. This is one of those days (yes, they are far a few between).
This story comes via Playthings.com. A story of a pink droid, somehow related to the beloved R2D2, created to honor the life of a little girl named Katie. This droid’s name is R2KT. I love it.
From Playthings.com:
Just in time for the San Diego Comic-Con this week, Hasbro and Lucasfilm have created a limited-edition Star Wars action figure to honor Katie Johnson, a 7-year-old Star Wars fan who died from brain cancer in 2005.
The new figure, R2-KT, resembles a pink and white version of R2-D2 and will retail for $9.99 at Hasbro’s booth and the StarWarsShop. A small inventory will also be offered for sale online through HasbroToyShop.com and StarWarsShop.com following Comic-Con. All proceeds will go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundations of San Diego and South Carolina.
You can learn more about Katie Johnson here, and more about R2KT here.

And you know how much I LOVE pink! LOL! This robot is too cute!
Thank you for sharing this with the Carnival of Family Life!
Can’t think of a better reason to have made a pink one.
That’s pretty neat.
Hugs,
Holly
Kailani: I could’ve guessed that you’d like it! Not sure how you feel about droids, but I’m sure of how you feel about pink!
Holly: Wasn’t that a cool story? I love seeing people use their gifts and abilities to make a difference!
So if I die too, would they make me an R2-louie? LOL….
