Time to stand up straight, take a deep breath, and get the week’s show on the road. When you’d like some good reading, pop by DigitalRichDaily for this week’s Carnival of Family Life #46. And maybe even participate in this toy meme based on an interview of Eric Weiner, executive producer of Disney Channel’s Little Einsteins (a great show that I highly recommend!).
What I want: A new bike for my son who has finally discovered the joy of cycling.
I must have: Lots of building blocks and construction sets.
What I hate: Cheap toys that break easily causing children to fling themselves on the ground in despair because of course you’ll never be able to find another one like it again.
Savvy shopper: If you’re a collector like us (we’ve got a complete set of Cars vehicles minus Hamm), make sure to check every store you walk past for toys, including department stores. We’ve found additions to our collections in the most unexpected places. Of course, you can always buy them from eBay as well but there’s no thrill of the hunt there.
My pick: Eric recommends Mr. Potato Head and I can’t believe we’ve never owned one before! /me jots it down on my 2-ft long shopping list The most versatile toy in our house is…get ready for it…tissue boxes! Over the weekend, my son used an empty one as an escape pod for his R2-D2 and C-3PO plush toys.
Next best thing: Books and notebooks with colored pens that keep my little monster quiet for a good long while.
What are your toy picks? Let me know in the comments or on your own blog. I’ll add a link to your answers here!

Time for me to get to work . . . and I thought I was taking a day off from blogging.
Here is my post:
The Evolution of a Boy’s Taste in Toys
My daughter loves Little Einsteins. It one of the few kids shows that I actually enjoy. I’ve learned a lot from it!
We want wood scraps of all shapes and sizes, and a box of carpentry tools make toys with.
kailani: It’s fun watching the kids shows sometimes because I’d forgotten all the little trivia I used to know.
Trina: Great idea!!
