WHAM-O Original Hula Hoop – Review

Today I have another review of a toy from the WHAM-O 60th Anniversary celebration – the WHAM-O Original Hula Hoop.
We all remember playing with hula hoops as children.  I never could master the technique.  When I received the WHAM-O Original Hula Hoop to test, I still can’t keep it up!  It doesn’t matter if you can actually keep a hula hoop up for more than 2-seconds though.  There are so many fun games you can create using a Hula Hoop.

LEGO Tables – Are They Worth It?

LEGO Tables – Are They Worth It?

LEGOs are one of those toys I’ve never really loved.  Even as a kid, I wanted to like them, but they just didn’t hold my interest.  These days, I have issues about the pieces being too small in some of the LEGO playsets, but I’ll save that complaint for another post.  For now, I want to hear opinions on LEGO play tables.

TheGrandParentZone.com – American Made Toys

TheGrandParentZone.com announces its launch of a new website featuring American Made toys.
“This unique website was the brainchild of baby boomers Fred and Betsy Arnow, who wanted to create a website with the best children’s books, wood toys, and equipment they used most when their now grown-up kids were infants, toddlers, and children.”
Many of the items on their website are considered classic toys. They feature wood toys, games and puzzles that are similar to what the baby boomers had when they were children. Fred and Betsy Arnow said that much of what you will see on their website are toys that …read more

Nostalgia Toy #14 – Classic Tin Kaleidoscope

I used to have one of these toys and I loved it! It’s a Classic Tin Kaleidoscope and one of those toys that never seems to go out of style. What kid doesn’t like a kaleidoscope?
I love it when my kids discover a toy that I played with as a child. There are a few toys that every kid should have in my opinion and this is one of them.
A few weeks ago one of my kids got a kaleidoscope from the school store and they were all fighting over it of course. We made them take turns and it …read more

Nostalgia Toy #8: Slinky

Nostalgia Toy #8: Slinky

The first SLINKY I remember being in our home was a big, dual-colored (yellow and orange) plastic one that my sister had. I think that was the first plastic Slinky I’d ever seen. We found out that you could sit in the back of our vehicle and peg the person in the front quite easily with that Slinky, and it didn’t make that annoying metallic sound that the original Slinky made.
How did we find out, you ask? Why, through a serious of complex mathematical equations, of course. You don’t think we would actually try it, did …read more
