I’m extra excited about the prize we’re offering to the winner. Sandisk is partnering with Play Library to offer the winner a SanDisk Ultra II, the ultimate card for great photos all year long. I got to try out one of SanDisk’s SD cards in my own camera, I’ll have a review for you early next week (but I’m loving it!).

Now for the Halloween Costume Contest rules (You must follow the rules to be entered):

• Step 1: Simply upload your photo to Flickr, then add your image to SanDisk’s Flickr Photo group, and make sure you tag it with “Halloween,”  and “SanDisk” when you add it to the group.
• Step 2: And this is important! When you’re done uploading your photo, come back here and leave a comment, with a quick description of your photo.
• Please note: We will be featuring some of the costumes here at Play Library over the next couple weeks. By uploading your photo to the group and tagging it with Halloween, and SanDisk you are also giving us the right feature your photo here at Play Library. If you don’t want your photo featured for some reason, please let me know when you leave your comment.
• The winner will be selected from a random draw at the end of the contest.
• One entry per person.
• The photo doesn’t have to be from this Halloween, any cute (or scary) and appropriate child in a costume will be great for the contest! The image must be your own, and it can’t be an image from a professional photography studio.
• Contest is open to residents of the US only.
• The contest will run from October 8th, to October 26th at midnight EST.
• I will post the winner here at Play Library, and notify them by email. Subscribe to Play Library so you don’t miss any of the action! The winner will have 3 days to get back to me before I’ll have to pick another winner.

This year, my 3 year old wants to be a carrot. A carrot!! Where did he come up with that? I can’t even get him to eat carrots and now he wants to dress up like one? Oy. I know I could find one online. I guess if he wants to be a carrot that bad, why should I stop him?

That would never have been allowed when we were younger. I remember the great suspense of actually getting to wear the plastic printed apron and the matching plastic mask that made your face sweat about 30 seconds after putting it on. We must’ve bugged mom for days waiting to wear those coveted costumes!

Well, I bought the kids’ costumes a little early this year. In past years, I’ve made them. I just don’t have the patience, time, energy, or brain power this year. So, off we went to Target to find a few costumes before they were out of all of our sizes.

To my surprise, Jake opted for the Bob the Builder costume over his usual alter-ego, Tigger. But it was cute, so why not? Well, the darn hat broke before we even left the store, so we got a new one right there on the spot. Jake was so excited to wear it.

Normally, I’d make the kids wait until the actual day to wear their special outfit, but I’m really not sure why. Whose rule is that, anyway? So, after he asked to wear it the first time, I thought, why spend the next two weeks listening to him bugging me about it? As much as these darn things cost, why not get all our money out of it? Sure, half of it is going to be torn or broken by the time Halloween actually gets here. Chances are, though, that it’s going to be cold enough that he has to wear a coat over it by Trick-or-Treat night, anyway.

And this way, I have the benefit of a helper to fix my yard light now. (Yeah, right. He was breaking it.)

Mom-to-reader tip here: The costume is listed on-line at 31.99 (USD). I got it at Target for 16.99 (USD) and still thought that was a lot!!! But, there you go…..
