LEGO Game Fans! Here Comes Lego Rock Band

My son loves the LEGO video games from Star Wars to Batman he’s a big fan. He’s also a big Rock Band fan (he loves the drums), so he was super excited last night when I told him they’re coming out with a new LEGO Rock Band. He wanted to go get it now, then I had to explain to him that it won’t be coming out until fall.

LEGO Rock Band is a brilliant combination, how can they go wrong? I’m loving the drum LEGO dude, he’s adorable!

LEGO Rockband will be hitting stores just in time for the holidays later …read more

LEGO Tables – Are They Worth It?

LEGO Tables – Are They Worth It?

LEGOs are one of those toys I’ve never really loved.  Even as a kid, I wanted to like them, but they just didn’t hold my interest.  These days, I have issues about the pieces being too small in some of the LEGO playsets, but I’ll save that complaint for another post.  For now, I want to hear opinions on LEGO play tables.
What do you think?  With triplets, I haven’t purchased a LEGO table yet, because I’ve only found one that looked large enough to give all three kids enough room to play without getting into eachother’s way and inevitably fighting.  …read more

Next year, I’ll get him Lego for Father’s Day…

Next year, I’ll get him Lego for Father’s Day…

Next year, i think I’ll just get Bald Man a new Lego set for Father’s Day. I think his favorite part of the whole day was a bit of the time we spent at his parent’s house. His parents have just moved back in town and had come across the Lego collection that they’d had from his youth. So, on our Father’s Day visit, out came the bin of Lego. Bald Man, the kids, and his parents were all in various parts of the living room arranging, categorizing and building with bunches of little Lego bricks. …read more

Free Lego Magazine Subscription

Free Lego Magazine Subscription

Did you know that Lego has a magazine? I didn’t, but I’m looking forward to seeing copies of it. However, not nearly as excited as Bald Man, I’m sure, being that he is, in fact, a Legomaniac. Anyway, head on over and you, too, can get signed up for your free 2 year subscription to Lego Magazine!
And, while you’re waiting for it to arrive, you can check out this photo of the largest ever Lego tower, and figure out how you will beat that record! It’ll only cost you the price of about a half a …read more

Educating at Playtime

Educating at Playtime

Tomorrow, Char at Weary Parent is going to be hosting an Education-themed carnival for b5media’s Family and Relationships Channel blogs. As usual, I’m trying to get my assignment in before the deadline has passed and I get points deducted for tardiness!
A lot of toys these days are marketed as “educational” and such, but I think some of the best toys for teaching and learning are the simple ones, many of which have been around longer than any of us have been alive. The following is my list of toys and such that have stood the test …read more

I’m not a Lego-maniac…

I’m not a Lego-maniac…

I’m not sure why. The tons of colorful pieces and varied shapes always look so enticing. I just don’t have a clue or any inspiration as to what to do with them.
Fortunately for my kids, their dad IS a Lego-maniac. He can sit with them and build boats, planes, buildings, people, and all kinds of stuff that would never occur to me to create with these bumpy, plastic cubes. He’s awaiting the day that we no longer have any “under 3s” in our home so that we can fill the toy box with those …read more
