I love fun books that encourage a little silliness when they’re being read, and this is one of those fun books!
We try to hit storytime at the library each week. The kids love the songs and dances and the animated ways that the children’s librarian reads the stories to them. Every once in a while, we’ll “play” storytime at home. The kids think it’s hilarious to pretend that we’re sitting in the library while really just singing, dancing and reading in the living room. Storytime at the Library: The Scarecrow’s Hat

Last night was, “Pajama Storytime” at our local library. My daughter was so excited to be able to wear her pajamas OUTSIDE.
The theme for the night was chickens. And so…..we danced the chicken dance, made paper chicken magnets, and listened to a few chicken-themed books.
One book was The Scarecrow’s Hat by Ken Brown, which I had never read. Very cute tale of a chicken helping her friends to get what they need in the process of getting what she wants. The illustrations, also by Ken Brown, were beautiful. It’s always a treat to actually enjoy …read more
Baby Backpack

Tonight was gorgeous here in the Midwest, so my family and I decided to get some fresh air and to hike it up to our local library. It is uphill much of the way, so it does often feel like a hike. Of course, it seems uphill much of the way back, too.
Since I had yet to get any exercise in for the day, I strapped the one year old into a baby backpack similar to the one pictured here. The cushioned straps on the shoulders and waist make for a very comfortable walk for me. …read more
