Decluttering With Kids~ Sorting Books

We have a few summer decluttering projects in the works over the next couple weeks at our house. Today’s project was to sort through all my son’s books. He still had books on his shelves from when he was an infant. I think it’s harder for me to let go of some of his books than it is for me.
I gave him two large plastic totes one for books he wanted to keep, and one for books he wants to get rid of.

Cell Phone E-Books for Kids

The way our children view media is radically different than the way we approached it when we were their age. Kate Baggott writes in the Technology Review about ICUE software that flashes text one word at a time on cell phone screens.
Childwise Monitor research recently reported that 90 percent of British 13-to-16-year-olds use cellular phones. According to Tappuni, 80 percent of users who download ICUE and view the demo text then go on to purchase ebooks. The trend has educators taking notice. Tappuni says she often hears from teachers interested in making ICUE books available to their classes.
