Step 2 Naturally Playful Sandbox – The Sand Stays Dry!

I took a long time trying to pick out the right sandbox for my 3-year old triplets. I didn’t want wood because we live in Florida and bugs are always a concern (especially termites).

It had to be big enough for three kids, but not too big because my yard isn’t huge. It had to have a top that secured in place because we get hurricanes here which are very windy. It also rains for a short time most days during the summer, so the top had to stay on tightly or the sand would never dry and would be unusable.

With those criteria in mind, I finally settled on the Step 2 Naturally Playful Sandbox after reading many reviews that said the top stayed on and the sand stayed dry.

We’ve been using this sandbox for a few months now and I’m happy to report that the top does stay on and the sand does stay dry! It’s also big enough for all three kids. It required no assembly and it holds a lot of sand. And one more thing, it’s only $59.99! My rating on the Step 2 Naturally Playful Sandbox – two thumbs up!

Step 2 Deluxe Canyon Road Train and Track Table

When my kids were 2-years old, I wanted to get them a train table, but I had nightmares of train tracks being thrown around the house and me constantly rebuilding. I thought about buying a traditional train table with Thomas the Tank Engine or Brio trains and tracks (actually, we got one of those when the kids turned 3-years old, but I’ll save that story for another time) and gluing the tracks to the table, but then I found the Step 2 Deluxe Canyon Road, Train and Track Table and my problems were solved.

This toy is great. First, it’s a snap to put together. Second, the triplets can’t throw pieces all over the house because the only parts that can be removed are the bridges and those have to be pulled off with force. Matchbox cars, Thomas and Brio trains, and all similarly sized cars, trucks and trains work perfectly on the tracks and roads, and there is even a top that you can use to hide the mess or turn the toy into an actual table.

My kids have been using this toy for nearly two years now, and it’s still in perfect condition (and let’s just say, they are not gentle with it). I can’t say enough good things about this toy, and I don’t anticipate they’ll get bored with it or stop using it anytime soon. At $99.99, this toy was pricey, but it was well worth the investment!

Step 2 Frog Sandbox

My son received this frog sandbox, made by Step 2, a bit early for his third birthday. I keep calling it a turtle, he keeps correcting me.

Anway, we decided that, with winter almost here, we’d bring it in the house for the next few months. That way, he doesn’t constantly beg us to play with it out in the cold. Not the best sandbox or toddler pool weather!

The kids have found so many fun uses for it in the house. Hiding in it, storing things in it, sleeping in it, fighting over it…..all of the great childhood pasttimes. So far, a very versatile toy! And, apparently, a very comfy bed.
