Here in the Midwest, we’re preparing to say good-bye to the last rays of summer. We hit back into the 90s this week, but that may be the last of that for a while. Still, we took advantage of it and got out the sprinkler and the blow-up pool, donned the swimsuits and sunblock, and danced the end of summer away.

Slip ‘N Slide the Summer Away!

Well, folks, we’re in the last few weeks of summer vacation. So, before the green leaves start changing into orange and red ones, and the tank tops are traded in for sweaters, let’s give those water toys their last moments of summer glory.
Our toy sprinkler decided it was finally done with our abuse and quit on us, and so we purchased a Nemo Slip ‘N Slide for the kids to play on. We put it up in my mom’s backyard, which has a very slight slope, and the inflated end of the toy made for a fun little …read more
Same Toys, Different Continents #4: Ice Cream and Popsicles

This week’s Same Toys, Different Continents (Kerri in italics) is all about ice cream, popsicles, frozen yogurt, and other frozen desserts. My son and his classmates at nursery school enjoyed quite a few at their end-of-the-year party today. And as far as I could tell, the more artificial the taste and color, the better.
Haagen Dazs and Ben & Jerry’s are my preferred ice cream brands of choice with my favorite flavors being Dulce de Leche and Cherry Garcia, respectively. For the purposes of this post, I also tried Phish Food for the first time (see …read more
