Thomas The Tank is going to be making his debut on the big screen. There is a new Thomas the Tank feature length movie scheduled to premiere in theaters in the spring of 2011. Thomas was first created back in 1945, and he’s been a favorite for preschool boys for many generations.
My son loved the Thomas The Tank videos, books, and toys when he was younger.
Thomas is being brought to the big screen by Josh Klausner acclaimed writer of “Shrek the Third.” Mr. Klausner will be developing the script for the new movie.

When my kids were 2-years old, I wanted to get them a train table, but I had nightmares of train tracks being thrown around the house and me constantly rebuilding.  I thought about buying a traditional train table with Thomas the Tank Engine or Brio trains and tracks (actually, we got one of those when the kids turned 3-years old, but I’ll save that story for another time) and gluing the tracks to the table, but then I found the Step 2 Deluxe Canyon Road, Train and Track Table and my problems were solved.

There are currently a couple of recalls out concerning the popular Thomas and Friends wooden toys. One article indicates that the cause is lead paint used in the the toys, while another article points out the possibility of small pegs or other small pieces being dislodged from the toys. Either way, it’s probably a good idea to check your toy boxes to make sure that you’re clear of these toys!
Update: Here is more specific information from the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on the toys involved in the recall.  Thanks to my SIL.

I’ve discovered a new publisher to love in addition to Dorling Kindersley (DK) and Usborne – Egmont Books. Today, we picked up several of these Thomas Learning books, which have wonderful stories and colorful illustrations together with some key graphics to help children learn how to improve their math and reading skills.
I’m also fond of the I Can Learn series of activity books available in the UK. These activity books have better illustrations and are more colorful and inviting than others I’ve seen. My almost four-year-old son happily goes through several pages and feels a great sense …read more
