Long car trips can be boring for kids. There are only so many times you can stand to hear “Are we there yet?” We travel quite a bit during the summer, whenever we have the opportunity we head out to the lake, or to the ocean.
When we head out for long trips I always try to make sure we’ve packed something for my son to do during the ride. Travel games are great, when it’s just him he enjoys playing solitary games, but sometimes we have one or both of our nephews along for the ride.

Nothing’s more annoying than whining kids in a n enclosed vehicle whether it be a car, a bus, a boat, or a plane. One way to pass the time is to read a good book and Are We There Yet? by Alison Lester would be very appropriate.

My husband travels a bit for work. Although our three-year-old doesn’t verbalize how he feels when daddy’s not here, I can tell from his behavior that he’s out of sorts. So when I found Daddy on the Moon by Cressida Cowell, I knew it would be perfect for my space-crazy boy. Just like the little boy in the book, S can imagine his father flying home in a rocket ship instead of an ordinary airplane. I’m sure he’s hoping Daddy will take him along one of these days.
