Thanks, Greg Page Wiggle

ayellow.gifSo, I wake up this morning to the official news that Greg Page is leaving The Wiggles. As I was watching Greg’s official good-bye on my laptop, the kids were standing with me. My one-year old sees Greg and starts saying, “giggle, giggle, giggle,” which is apparently his word for “wiggle.” This morning was the first time he said it, and he followed it immediately by starting to dance around the kitchen in a very Henry the Octopus-like fashion.

I’m in no way trying to make light of what is a serious condition for Greg, but am I the only one who breathed a big sigh of relief that his condition isn’t fatal? Greg Page has given so much of his life, as have all of the Wiggles family, to the children of the world. And while it’s saddening that we’ll no longer have him as the yellow Wiggle (except in every video, TV show, etc. that’s already been produced), I’m so glad that his family can look forward to a long life with Greg. For 15 years they’ve shared him with all of The Wiggles fans. I think I speak for so many people when I say that we are thankful to both Greg and his family for allowing us that part of his life. Our hopes and prayers are for a long, healthy life ahead of him (he is still so young!), excellent healthcare for his condition, and a continued joy-filled life.

Thanks, Greg.

I share the same sentiment as written in “Thanks, Greg Page Wiggle”. I am devastated by the news that Greg Page is leaving The Wiggles but AM VERY relieved that his condition is not fatal. I admire the man for keeping up with such an active and hectic lifestyle while fighting this illness that apparently he has had for a long time now. I respect his decision to leave the group and pray that his health will improve and that he will continue to have a fruitful life. At least now, he can spend more time with his family who have been so patient enough to share Greg Page with us for the past 15 years! Best of luck to you, Greg and THANK YOU for all that you have given us!

that is a very touching post. i too am so glad greg doesn’t have to fear for his life. at the same time i feel sick to my stomahc that he must look toward the rest fo his years fighting nausea and fainting and i feel saddest fo all for the opther three wiggles. i always struggled to mae friends so to me a true friendship is the most powerful thing in the world. to think of these guys who are traveling the world and must leave behind their best friend, knowing he is sufferring and knwoing he will not ever get well, watching a man half their age sing the songs their friend wrote with them (don’t get me wring, i actually was surprised and how good sam is, i didn’t expect to like him as much as i do, but still)…it must be so hard on them. anthony seems to be taking it the hardest. if that we my best friend i don’t know how i would deal with it.

and then greg, having to walk away from your lifes work becaus eyou can’t stand up normally…..

  3. Abigail: Thanks so much for your comment. The fact that Greg endured so long with such an active role with The Wiggles shows how devoted he is to the group and its fans. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Eva: I appreciate your comments. I think of the others as well and how hard it would be to continue on without their dear friend. But their passion will carry them on, I think, and I’m sure Greg’s happy for them to be able to continue to share their gifts with children all over the world. And, yes, Sam is great! I hope that he’s warmly embraced as the new yellow Wiggle. He deserves every chance to shine in his new role. I’m sure he’ll do Greg, The Wiggles, and the fans proud. Thanks for commenting!
