The Pumpkin Patch at Fulton Farms

afulton.jpgOne of our favorite yearly traditions is to take the kids out to Fulton Farms to pick their very own pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. It’s a fun lesson in finding out where our produce is actually produced. You mean it doesn’t just grow at the grocery store?

A foot covered in goo from stepping on a rotten pumpkin, an itchy bumpy hayride out to the fields, and wonderful memories of a fun day out with buddies on a crisp, chilly October day. It’s a great time.

apump1.jpgapump2.jpgWe didn’t make it out to the actual field this year, as the boys were not in a mood that would mesh well with a hayride. But we still got them to sit long enough to take a few photos.

You didn’t think I could get them all looking at me in one photo, did you? ;) What are some of your favorite fall traditions?

  1. I need to take S to a rice paddy. He thinks rice grows on trees.

  2. You mean it doesn’t? lol :D

We usually go to the pumpkin patch as a family but Girlie Girl went there on a school trip this year. She didn’t really want to go again. Oh well, maybe next year!

  4. My husband associates Halloween with Chili. We grew our own pumpkins when I was a girl and hope to help my kids experience this too once I master desert gardening…LOL Until then there are some fun pumpkin patches and some you need to check references on!! LOL

  5. Kailani: We have a great time there. One of the kiddie things that I really like doing. Don’t know why, but I love pumpkins!

Holly: I really am going to try harder next year to grow those pumpkins! We were successful with tomatoes this year, and a few peppers. I was able to grow little pumpkin plants, but forgot about them and killed them. Poor little pumpkin plants. :( So, I’m thankful for all the farmers around here who are successful with the pumpkin patches!

My favorite Halloween tradition when I was young was to carve pumpkins with my mum and brothers, and then my mum would roast the pumpkin seeds in the oven for us, YUM!!
I can’t wait to have my own children and begin my own traditions, like going to the pumpkin patch.

  1. [...] I think this Fisher Price Little People Thanksgiving set is just too cute. It’s a thirteen piece set, and includes the adorable pumpkin (sorry, I have a thing for pumpkins). [...]

  2. [...] …but apparently, not quickly enough for him. So, he’ll just jump up on one of the pumpkins from the pumpkin patch to get to that lemon that he needs NOW!.. [...]
