I enjoyed listening to the lullabies, I wasn’t sure what to expect when they asked me to check out the CD’s, but I was pleasantly surprised when I listened to them. I’ve actually been listening to them now when I want to chill out and relax.

The songs are very soft, instrumental versions. The gentle, dreamy versions are truly relaxing and soothing.

The Hushabye Baby CD’s would make a fun and interesting baby shower gift, its something a little different, and they have several popular artists to choose from.

What’s a tween?

In case you live in a part of the world where the term tween is not yet part of common vernacular, a tween is that awkward age group when children are no longer little kids, but they have not truly entered the teenage years either.  It’s those few years every parent dreads when they’re sweet, innocent children turn into evil, opinionated prepubescents.  The horror!

Today’s tween product – Twister Moves: High School Musical 2 Edition Game

Twister Moves: High School Musical 2 brings the East Ridge High kids together with Hasbro’s Twister Moves – a variation of the classic game of Twister with music and dancing.

Twister Moves: High School Musical 2 includes a High School Musical CD that features four songs and four dance tracks from the High School Musical 2 movie soundtrack.  The game comes with two Twister Moves Dance Discs and two 30″ x 30″ dance mats.  It’s rated for kids ages 8 and up and costs $21.99.

Looks like the perfect game for a tween girl’s slumber party!  What do you think?  Is there a High School Musical fan in your house who would enjoy Twister Moves: High School Musical 2?  With High School Musical 3 due to be released in theaters on October 24, 2008, this game could be a great present for the holidays this year when High School Musical fever is sure to be on overload again!

The reviews for this have been great and many parents have said that their kids love listening to the music and that they do too. There are several CD’s in the Putumayo Collection, but this one in particular has tracks from countries such as Africa, Australia, Europe, the Caribbean, South America and North America.

Here’s a little more about the CD:

Even if the multicontinent angle strikes you as too catholic, it bears reiterating that this is a "playground" session, a collection that begins with a Senegalese in-line dance and continues through "Mardi Gras Mambo," a bongo-playing French monkey, and much more. And while the songs are playful, there’s nothing in the way of tossed-off music. It’s all first-rate, with the artists at the top of their games. –Andrew Bartlett

If you are looking for ways to share other cultures with your children and give them a taste of different types of music, then this CD would make a great addition to your collection of music.

The songs on this album are fun, some soothing, some not so soothing (but funny as all get out!), and touching. You listen to some and know they were just written in the middle of the night by a sleep deprived parent who was caring for a new baby.

Our kids love listening to the songs, and giggling along with the silly lyrics. And, to be honest, those of us considered grown-ups in the house do as well. And how can you not with lyrics like this:

Bears, bears, they got no cares
Bears don’t drink from a cup

To catch you and eat you up

While I have nothing against the Baby Einstein products, I can’t honestly say that I’ve ever seen the videos, listened to the CDs, or played with the toys. I can see why Erica of GNMParents took my enthusiastic congratulations of Aigner-Clark as a promotion of her product.

In actuality, I was congratulating Aigner-Clark on harnessing her passion, sharing it with the world, and being able to make a living on it. Isn’t that the hope of us all? To be able to do what we love and find a way to support ourselves and our families on it? Isn’t that our hope for our children?

Since Aigner-Clark was mentioned in the speech, she has been blasted in several places for being recognized for doing nothing but creating videos for babies who should not be put in front of the TV. Since I’ve not seen the videos, I don’t have an opinion on them specifically. However, I have been known to throw a Wiggles video in on occasion (ha), and I’m sure neither Aigner-Clark nor I could be the first to be accused of using TV as a babysitter to TRY TO GET JUST ONE THING DONE. However, I also bottle-fed my eldest child, and still use disposable diapers, so maybe I’m not the one you’re looking to for child-rearing advice.

And, FINALLY, why has eveyone failed to mention the child safety video, The Safe Side – Stranger Safety, that Aigner-Clark produced with America’s Most Wanted guru John Walsh? Reading the text of the speech (you can find that portion here), it seems to me that this project was as instrumental in getting Aigner-Clark recognized in the presidential speech as her entrepreneurial spirit and success. I haven’t seen the safety video, yet (thanks for sending it, you know who!), but will give it a review when I do.

Enter: Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas. We picked up the Wiggles Christmas CD from the library a week or two ago when we went to visit Santa. The kids have had a ball listening and dancing to it, which is nice because it keeps them warm and toasty! I’d think the Wiggles would get warm doing all that dancing this time of year, though. Isn’t is summer now Down Under?
