Last Year The Stick This Year The Ball?

Last year I let you know that the stick had been inducted into the Toy Hall Of Fame, this year his friend the ball is joining him. I can’t think of two more deserving toys than stick and ball. Put them together and you’ve got a dynamic duo that’s hard to beat!

The other Toy Hall Of Fame inductees this year included the Big Wheel, and the Game Boy, both are also very deserving toys, but nothing can top the ball.
The ball is one of the most versatile toys ever invented, there are tons of games you can play with that …read more

Toy Layaway Is Back In a Big Way

Layaway disappeared several years ago, and everyone thought it went the way of the dinosaurs, but now it’s making a comeback just in time for the 2009 Christmas season. Several large retailers are bringing layaway back, including Toy”R”Us.

Toys”R”Us, Inc. announced they are introducing an in-store layaway program designed to help customers purchase “big gifts” and pay for them over time in smaller payments this holiday season. With the new layaway program, customers can reserve larger toys, like bikes and play kitchens, early in the season and make a series of small payments over an extended period to have their toys …read more

Nickelodeon Premiering Fanboy and Chum Chum

Nickelodeon is premiering a new show this November, patterned after and a spin off of their Nicktoons Network anthology series Random! Cartoons.

The new cartoon comedy features classic squash and stretch animation with computer generated animation technologies. Fanboy has a wild unhinged enthusiasm and imagination, that works together with Chum Chum’s wide-eyed acceptance of the bizarre.

Life Size Lego House Built~ Then Tore Down?

My son loves to make Lego creations, but this Lego creation tops them all. A life size Lego house was built this August in Dorking, Surrey for the BBC series James May’s Toy Stories. The Lego structure was built complete with a working toilet and shower.

James May wanted it to be placed at Legoland, but a deal to put it there fell through, so the Lego house did not have a long life.
The house took 3.3 million Lego bricks and thousands of volunteers to build. May tried to find someone to take the house for free, but it would cost …read more

Sponge Bob Celebrating 10 Years

I admit I was not a Sponge Bob fan until the last couple years. When the show first premiered I didn’t like Sponge Bob, his voice and his laugh drove me crazy! But my son and my husband cured me. They both adore Sponge Bob, and since they control the TV 99% of the time Sponge Bob grew on me.
Now I’m a Sponge Bob convert. I’ll stop and watch it if I’m flipping through the channels and I find it on. I even laugh out loud once in a while (shhh, don’t tell anyone).

I was excited to hear Sponge Bob …read more
