We shop all day long, chatting away while we wait in the long lines, and taking a nice leisurely lunch break after we’ve hit all the morning door buster deals, and before we head back out for more shopping.

Of course we check out all the Black Friday ads before we head out, so we can plan our strategy, and make our list of stops. I usually get most of my toy shopping done.

Over 300 merchants have already signed up to participate in this year’s Free Shipping Day, and founder Luke Knowles expects more than 500 merchants will be participating by the time the date gets here. Some of the merchants that have already confirmed they are participating include Toys R Us, JCPenney, Apple Store, Nike, Sears, Babies R Us, Eddie Bauer, PacSun, PetSmart, and Adidas. If you order on December 17th, participating stores will deliver by Christmas Eve, if items are in stock.

If you have gifts you need to order online, or gifts you’ll need to have delivered, keep December 17th in mind.

The other Toy Hall Of Fame inductees this year included the Big Wheel, and the Game Boy, both are also very deserving toys, but nothing can top the ball.

The ball is one of the most versatile toys ever invented, there are tons of games you can play with that one toy alone. It’s a universal toy favorite. Kids from everywhere know what to do when you present them with a ball.

I was also glad to see the Big Wheel included in this year’s Hall Of Fame. The Big Wheel brings back some great childhood memories for me, and I’m sure for many other people.

The Game Boy is another toy that has transformed itself over time, and only become more popular with each new transformation.

Toys”R”Us, Inc. announced they are introducing an in-store layaway program designed to help customers purchase “big gifts” and pay for them over time in smaller payments this holiday season. With the new layaway program, customers can reserve larger toys, like bikes and play kitchens, early in the season and make a series of small payments over an extended period to have their toys in time for the holidays.

I think it’s great for families who are trying to plan ahead and maintain a budget through the holiday season. It will help customers get their shopping done early in the year, and plan out their spending.

Here is a list of some of the items included in the Toys”R”Us layaway program:

• Battery-Powered Ride-On Vehicles
• Dollhouses
• Play Kitchens

Fan Boy and Chum Chum is scheduled to premiere on Nickelodeon on November 6th at 9:00p.m. (ET/PT) immediately following a SpongeBob one-hour special, called SpongeBob SquarePants’ Truth or Square.

Here’s a quick promo clip.

I can see this as a new favorite for my son, it seems like a show that will target his age group. He loves the animated comedies, they draw him right in. We might have to check it out on premiere night.

This morning I was checking out the Family Fun top 10 toys for this year on Regis and Kelly. Their top rated toy was the Invasion of The Bristlebots. Bristlebots are part robot, part toothbrush. They look like they’d be a ton of fun. You can snap the bots together, decorate them, and watch them cruise around on their bristles. The bots also come with a book that has 12 different activities kids can do with their bots. Sounds like a toy my son would love.

Their number two toy was the Pyramid by Playmobil. My son could have made this list, this sounds like another toy he would absolutely love. The children actually get to build the pyramid structure themselves then they can reenact Egyptian life.

She even has a new group of friends, the Explorer Girls help Dora solve mysteries online, with the help of your child. The new Dora is geared to Dora fans who have outgrown the original doll. She has a virtual online world your child can access by plugging Dora into your computer.

Besides helping Dora solve mysteries children can play mini games, change Dora’s appearance (both online, and on the real doll), and get involved in the online community.

The new Dora Links comes with doll stand, USB cord, purse, shoes and brush, and is available at most specialty toy stores, and major retailers. I’m sure she’ll be on many girl’s Christmas lists this year.

The tour will also be stopping in New York on Novenber 21st, and Chicago on December 5th. Tickets for the concerts go on sale to American Express Cardmembers from Wednesday, September 30, at 9 AM through Thursday, October 8 at 9PM. James May wanted it to be placed at Legoland, but a deal to put it there fell through, so the Lego house did not have a long life.

The house took 3.3 million Lego bricks and thousands of volunteers to build. May tried to find someone to take the house for free, but it would cost around $85,000 to move it. There were no takers so the house was demolished on September 22, and the Lego bricks that survived the demolition will be donated to charity.
