This year retailers are focusing more on lower priced and bargain toys, instead of high end and expensive. Walmart is leading the way with their list of $10 toys, and other retailers are following the trend. There are still higher price tag toys out there, but the consumer is looking for a better bargain for their money. So if a toy has a larger price tag it needs to over deliver on value.

Virtual pets have come a long way in the last few years. The latest evolution is Zhu Zhu pets, adorable new cuddly hamsters from Cepia. They promise to be one of the hot new toys for Christmas 2009 that you’ll have a hard time finding in stock. They’re even having a hard time keeping them in stock at Amazon. The line is just coming out and they’re already on the top sellers list.

Fun Gadgets and Toys From CES

I talked a little the other day about the popular toy trends for 2009 featured at this years CES. The Consumer Electronics Show for 2009 wrapped up last night, so I thought I’d share some more of the cool toys and gadgets that were featured there.
Green and cheaper was the main trend for the 2009 CES. The video below features a mind control game by Mattel called MindFlex. The game uses your brain waves (similar to an EEG) to help a ball manipulate its way through an obstacle course, and will hit retail stores in the fall of 2009. …read more
