Warning: Chuck E. Cheese Disco Light

June 20, 2006 by Lei

A fire that claimed the lives of two children, 5-year-old Alyssa and 7-year-old Robert “Buddy” Bullock, may have been caused by a Chuck E. Cheese disco light distributed by Manley Toys.

Chuck E. Cheese said until it receives a copy of the [law] suit, it has no comment and that it has voluntarily pulled the disco light from all stores. Shortly after the incident, Manley Toys said it has ceased distribution of the product.

Cheap toys and trinkets are fun for a while, but many are made with substandard materials that are not only a fire hazard but may contain toxic chemicals like lead. Take care when buying toys and other items for your children.

It’s a real shame that these trinkets from these franchises are made in sweat shop situations, with substandard materials and terrible work conditions, and then they are dangerous, besides! I hope the lawsuit is successful if the Chuckie Cheese lights really are to blame, and that it will stir a call to action about these cheap toys.

Voting for you on BLOG VILLAGE.

  2. Dirty Butter: It’s a sad situation all around. :(
