WHAM-O Original Hula Hoop – Review

Today I have another review of a toy from the WHAM-O 60th Anniversary celebration – the WHAM-O Original Hula Hoop.

We all remember playing with hula hoops as children.  I never could master the technique.  When I received the WHAM-O Original Hula Hoop to test, I still can’t keep it up!  It doesn’t matter if you can actually keep a hula hoop up for more than 2-seconds though.  There are so many fun games you can create using a Hula Hoop.

The recommended ages for the Original Hula Hoop are 5-12, but my 3-year old triplets love it, too.  They immediately began jumping through the Hula Hoop when we received it using a modified jump rope technique.  They also love climbing through it, placing on the floor and jumping into it, and rolling it as if they’re doing a rythmic gymnastics routine.

What keeps Hula Hoops so popular over the years despite the fact that most people can’t actually master the technique is the creative play the Hula Hoops invite.  The WHAM-O Original Hula Hoop is a good quality hula hoop that is strong and should last for awhile.  There is a little ball inside that makes a swishing noise as you spin the Hula Hoop.  With a price tag of only about $5, you can’t go wrong with a Hula Hoop.

Now it’s your turn… can you keep a Hula Hoop up for more than a few seconds?  How else do you and your children like to play with Hula Hoops aside from the traditional “hula” method?

I bought one of these — I’m over 50! I really used to be great at hooping — many many years ago — now — honestly my teddy bear would do better. In fact I think he does..StuffedSocial

  2. John, you’re never too old for a hula hoop!
