Or, “A bit of Christmas Griping”
So, my kids received the Vtech V.Smile TV Learning System for Christmas this year. I was home sick while Bald Man and the kids traveled over the river and through the woods (for real, kinda) to grandma’s house, which is where they received this video console. Bald Man said the kids were enjoying it, but that it didn’t come with a power cord to plug it in.
Huh? Back it up a second….a video game sold with no power cord? You’ve got to be kidding me! Well, it’s true. If you read the fine print (darn that fine print) on the box you find that the game requires a few “C” batteries or an AC Power adapter, neither of which is included with the game. I think that’s just dumb.
Here is the V.Smile Adapter product description listed as “from the manufacturer” from Amazon:
Kids who burn through batteries while engaged in exciting brain-building game play need a more reliable power source. The V.Smile AC Adaptor is specially designed to help save on batteries and provide uninterrupted V.Smile game time.
Am I the only one saying, “Well, duh…”? Maybe I am, because the rest of you have actually adapted a more mature vernacular since becoming an adult, but regress a bit and humor me for a moment. Who would ever expect that it would be sensible for a video game designed to be used with a TV to run on batteries? Wouldn’t you expect the console to be sold with a power cord?
