50th Anniversary Party Planning

I’m helping plan a 50th wedding anniversary open house for later this summer. We’ve been planning out the meal, and getting all the decorating ideas in order, so I thought I’d share a few with you here.

The color scheme is going to be gold (of course), shades of cream/ivory, with accents in purple. I think those colors really look good together.

We’re working on the final menu this week, and I will probably make a couple sample decorations, so I’ll be back to share the planning process as it goes along.

I think I’m going to make a simple cupcake tower with a small cake on top. The cake on top will hold the couples original wedding cake topper. I’m still trying to decide between gold or purple sprinkles, or a small purple flower. I think the icing will be an ivory buttercream. I may alternate the cupcakes and do sprinkles on some, and purple flowers on others. We’ll see!

I’ll be back with the final menu, sample decorations, decorating ideas, the final cupcake tower, and images of the party when it happens.
