We did it! The 50th wedding anniversary I’ve been helping to plan was today. It was a perfect day, the temperature was in the mid 70’s (F), and it was partly sunny. It was a beautiful day, and overall everything for the party went very smooth.

The topper for their cake was their original wedding cake topper from their wedding 50 years ago. The only problem I had was getting the buttercream icing smooth on the small cake that held the topper. In the end I gave up, and the icing is a little rough.

The cupcakes turned out fabulous. I used buttercream icing to swirl them, with a Wilton 1M decorating tip. We made the little purple flowers with gumpaste, and a gold edible ball for the center. I used a small flower cutter to cut out the flowers.
The stand I used was actually a cake stand, that I rented for the weekend from a local cake shop. It worked very well, if I could have found one, I would have used a stand that was a little shorter between the layers.

That cupcake tower looks amazing!!
