A New Product and a New Contest: What to Do Pad from WhoMi

You know what I dislike most about party planning? Keeping track of all that needs to be done. I’m not an organized person so you can imagine how little scraps of paper with phone numbers and shopping lists get lost. That’s why I love this What to Do Pad from WhoMi. Featuring separate pads on the same page, party planners can see at a glance what needs to be bought, who needs to be called, and what actions will need to be taken. There’s not going through different notebook pages, there’s no hunting up Post It’s that fell to the ground, it’s one notebook featuring three pads. Get a closer look by viewing the video product review below:
Do you like the What to Do Pad? I have five to give away! Tell me about an interesting or unusual party idea in the comments and I’ll enter your name to be chosen at random. It can be a theme, a decoration or any unique aspect of party planning. You have until April 20th, 2008.
Thanks for playing!

When we had summer parties, we would use water balloons to play musical chairs. You had to sit in the chair and pop the water balloon in order to get to the next round. The kids loved it .
I”ve mostly only organized children’s parties for my three, but one hit for all three was the fishing game.
Before the party, we hid candies and treats throughout the room. Then, I took a big box and decorated the outside with a fishing theme. Using a stick, rope and a clothes pin, we made a fishing rod. Finally, I cut out a bunch of underwater shapes (fish, octopus, rubber boots
and wrote clues on them. The kids would line up to “fish” and behind the box we would attach one of the fish or the rubber boot to their “hook.” The rubber boots were “try again” but the others told them where to look for their prize. They loved it.
Oh – and my daughter had a princess theme party once. I bought “champagne” glasses at the dollar store that they used. After their tea party dinner, we cleaned out the glasses, filled them with candy necklaces and treasures, wrapped them in tulle and those were their loot bags. It was a huge hit too.
Is that your voice in the video!? How nice to actually “hear” you after all these years of “talking” to you online!
BTW, good job on taking your blog posts to the next level. I have a digital video cam, and never thought about it! I sure will now, though…

Love the pad, Deb!
My friends and I enjoy snarky themed parties – the best one that we’ve come up with is a Communist Party (the celebration kind of party, not political). Some examples of what we did: we made all party-goers dress in gray and nominated the hostess as dictator. With a little creativity (and minor amounts of political knowledge), a person can come up with interesting communism-themed activities and games. We had a huge party and it was a blast!
Hi Diane,
It’s nice to see you after a year away from the blogosphere. That is indeed my voice. It took a while to work up the nerve. I don’t have the nerve to show my face yet but we’ll see.
Well, my husband and I love sushi, so we had a Sushi Party. It’s loads of fun! You buy all the ingredients for the handrolls, like seaweed, sushi rice, crabstick, roe, mayo, wasabi, etc. Then you and your guests will make your own rolls. It’s yummy! And have bottomless miso soup. Fun party!
I really don’t have a theme to share….just good food, good wine, good friends
a crowns and tiaras party for all the nobility out there
Great gift idea!
Pinatas are always fun, but when 4 year old had one at her party, the men ended up having to break it as the strings didn’t work and none of the kids was having any luck.
it depends on the group, but its fun to pull out the nintendo wii and get those who have never played addicted
. its fun at any party!
We held a formal “Monte Carlo” night party and had lot’s card games available like Texas Hold em’ and Blackjack. At the end of the night you cashed in your play money for raffle tickets. The more money you won – the more raffle tickets were in the drum for a drawing. At that point we had a huge raffle and gave away many prizes like an i-pod.
Thanks so much for this giveaway. My husbands 50th is coming up and we’re planning a surprise party for him. We’re doing the party in a “Smurf” theme. As a child he loved the Smurfs and right now we’re trying to get Smurf memoribilla together to give him a great party.
Thanks so much for this giveaway.
Bunco night with the neighborhood women can get pretty interesting, especially if prizes are invovled!!
@Julie Ford – I hear Bunco is so much fun. I’ve been wanting to learn and play.
Once a month we hold a scary movie night, simply stated we invite our friends over, have some snacks and a scary movie qued up to view (anything from an old silent like “phantom of the opera” the a newer one like 28 days later.
We’ve tried to teach our little ones the joy of giving by making the parties about giving to those in need rather than personal greed. For example, this year Trent chose the local animal shelter and each guest brought some dog or cat food to contribute to the shelter.
We used to hold a weekly alphabet potluck. The first one was A and everything had to have some connection to A… asparagus, absinthe, etc. Q was hard, as I recall!
Our family has a very special party coming this July! My dad will turn 90 years young. We are having a family party to celebrate this special occasion. Your What To Do Pad would immensely help my sister and
me plan his to-do! Please enter me in your drawing. Many thanks…..Cindi
last year we had a bubbles and hula hoop party for my 2 year old (that is what my 4 year old said the 2 yeard ols wanted)

Hire a great performer. I used a local story teller for 3 birthday parties. As goodie bags, we gave out all sorts of books-coloring books, reading books, game books. The story teller used puppets and I surrounded the room with puppets and stuffed animals.
For food-always served cupcakes…and had one small cake for the birthday child…not cutting or worrying about size of pieces for anyone
I love to host parties on my roofdeck. To keep the party safe, I bought a string of lights to wrap around the deck as sort of a boundary.
I am celebrating my son’s 1st birthday and we have the theme “The big one” and we are going to have the number 1 everywhere you go!!! Its a big milestone for my son.
We once attended an “Is it Art?” party where the house was set up as a gallery (with white walls, spotlights). Party guests either came dressed as artwork or gallery goers.
I’d like to throw a costume party where everyone had to dress up like one of the other guests.
White elephant–playing games to get rid of stuff you don’t want… (decent stuff)
I love the pool parties with kids doing what they do best. PLAY
Pick Me !!
THIS WOULD BE HELPFULL FOR MY NEXT PARTY
survivor party for my tween…went on a neighborhood scavenger hunt for a rubber chicken! the girls then had to come back to decorate it in barbie clothes for a runway competition!
All white parties are fun for adults. Everyone has to wear white, looks really nice. Then all your decorations are in white. Very easy to do & looks very classy.
For my daughter’s 3rd birthday, we got cheap kiddie pools and filled them all with sand. 5 big sandboxes kept everyone busy with no more effort!
I don’t have an usual or very interesting party idea, but I’m trying to plan a 40th anniversary party for my parents. It may end up being unusual and interesting because I will probably delay it for a couple months until my brother is home from Iraq and then it will be an anniversary/welcome home party.
I just threw a dog party for my 3-year old daughter. Probably the best part was the large doghouse that my husband made out of a cardboard box. The kids loved running in and out of it while barking like dogs. We also supplied them with dog ears and dog collars. It was a lot of fun.
come as your favorite chef from food netwirk and bring a thing they would cook and polan on a funny mini show
How about a Wii party or board game party? I know. I am a geek.
I went to a Hawiian birthday party for my cousin that was one of my fav parties I’ve been too. We had a hula dance off. We had dozens of bright tissue paper flowers as decorations. We ate authentic Hawiian food yum.

Whatever you do, don’t have a beach party where you buy playground sand from home depot. In theory it’s a fun idea – until you have to clean up. Even if you put a tarp under the sand it gets everywhere. Sand gets in the house, all over the lawn, int he garden and it blows around. Trust me. Just don’t.
A Princess Tea Party! My daughter loves to play dress up and play with her play dishes.
The best party I ever helped organize was my sister’s bridal shower. Now wait, it wasn’t a traditional shower. It was in the middle of summer, outdoors, men invited and it was a hawaiian Luau, so so fun!!!
Graduation coming up for the kids- This would make A PERFECT Item. My favorite party was for my daughters 6th party, We had a man bring over a raindear for the kids to pet!
I am doing a bubble party for my daughter’s birthday this year. I will be decorating with Bubble Wrap, doing a bubble paint craft, games with prizes for biggest bubble farthest traveled etc., and my favorite enclosing each child inside a bubble using a wadding pool and hula hoop!
For my daughter’s first birthday I drew an Elmo on a Cardboard piece of paper and had all of the guests sign it for her. She loved on that for months after her party.
Have a desert dinner! Have all your party guests just come over and bring a dessert and play games and visit! Thanks!
A Party where We all have computers on a Wireless network and Sign up for freebies..
When I was a kid, I had a Chineese birthday party! I still love Chineese to this day, but that was the best! A platter of Egg Rolls and Wonton Soup! Mmmmmmm!
I use a journal and have everyone write a personal note to the birthday boy (aka connor) at all of his parties. its a great keepsake!
I blogged you on Prizeatron!

We had a treasure hunt one year for dd’s birthday. We stuck some little trinkets (and coins) in some clean Hamster bedding and then they had to search for candy and the like. They had fun.
a muder mystery party is great fun for adults – and a lego party for kids!
