Our Family Christmas Dinner at The Downing House in Colorado

Unfortunately I have no pictures to show you of our Christmas dinner and I am very disappointed. I have been having camera issues ever since I have been in Colorado. It must be the high altitude. I can tell you that it was one of the best and most elegant Christmas dinners we have ever had.
I am staying at a beautiful place called The Downing House in Englewood, Colorado which I will post pictures of later. It is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at and we have felt like very welcomed guests here. My husband’s entire family: 2 brothers, 1 sister, his dad and 8 other cousins; have taken over the place and we are having an amazing time.
One thing about The Downing House, is they know everything about presentation. I have learned so much while I have been here and have so many great ideas to share with you. I have asked many times if we can just move in and stay here, but I don’t think they will go for that. They accommodate many guests through out the year and we might just be in the way.
All of our meals here have been amazing and served with the utmost care. We have been doing all of the cooking, but my sister-in-law who lives and works here, has taught me so much and has made sure that we do things the way it’s supposed to be done at the Downing House.
We have served breakfast on silver platters with doilies. All our drinks have been staying cold in a beautiful bucket of ice (no coolers are used here!). We have been serving milk and orange juice in carafes, not from the jug.
It has just been an amazing time and I will remember this forever! I hope to share some pictures with you soon. We woke up to some major snow on Christmas morning and it literally snowed all day. It’s just gorgeous outside. I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas meal with your family and friends too.

Julie- Could you hold back in your next post about the Downing House? I can barely contain the urge to get on the next plane to Colorado to join you there.
Kate – lol! I know…they are going to have to kick me out of this place! I love it so much. We get to stay an extra day because of the blizzard. Woohoo!
