Our Orchard Birthday Party

Last year we let my son invite his entire preschool class to his fifth birthday party. Normally we would just have five or six kids over for a party in our backyard, but the entire preschool class had grown close are were about to separate to go to our respective kindergartens. We decided to hold his party at a local orchard. It’s a favorite of ours because we can go apple picking or berry picking and spend the day. They have a “petting zoo” filled with old, retired farm animals who need some loving, pedal tractors, real tractors sunk in the ground for kids to climb on and more. When we found they did birthday parties, and were very reasonably priced, we decided to have it there.
Our orchard birthday included:
- A hay wagon ride around the orchard – which is a very big property
- Two large buckets of feed so the kids can feed the animals at the petting zoo
- Pedal tractors
- Lots of homemade apple cider – the orchard’s speciality
- Cupcakes – Beautifully decorated and delicious
The two hours flew by fast. The kids had a blast feeding the animals and going for their wagon ride. They also loved pedaling around in the sand on their tractors. Most of us had only been to the usual bowling or pizza parties, and all agreed this was a wonderful change of pace. The orchard even included a tent with picnic tables underneath so the we were kept cool from the warm June sun.
The party was held at a local, family run orchard so I don’t know if they have this sort of thing near you. If you look around the area however, you might find some great birthday party ideas that are unique and fun.

Cutest idea ever! Must link you somehow… hmmm. Honestly, this is a killer idea. Glad I went surfing tonight. Even though I honestly should be blogging myself, or possibly in bed.
My son wants to do it again this year, but I want to keep it small and simple. While it’s cheaper than having two dozen kids at your house, it’s not cheaper than having five kids at your house.
