Spring is Here…Time to Get Ready for Barbecue Season

In the Ng household, every season is barbecue season. Mr. Ng doesn’t mind bundling up or putting up an umbrella if it means firing up the grill or backyard smoker. We don’t eat outside, however. Now that spring is here, it’s time to get the back deck and yard ready for barbecues – not only for the family but for friends.
What I like about barbecues is that they’re held outside. The house doesn’t have to be in tip top order – just a few key rooms. Also, there’s more to do. Kids can run around, play on the swingset, use the backyard sprinkler or swim in the pool and this way most of the mess is outside too. Here’s what I’ll be doing as the weather gets warmer:
- Hose down the backyard furniture.
- Rake leaves and pick up branches and debris left behind from winter’s storms.
- Hose down the playset equipment.
- Re-mulch the garden.
- Fill the outdoor torches with fuel.
I’ll also be planting flowers but that’s more for my own personal enjoyment than the guests. We also have a giant gas grill and smoker needing basic cleaning and maintenance (which will be covered in a future post) but I let my husband handle that.
