When you have a large family gathering for Thanksgiving, or any other holiday, sometimes you need to have some planned activities to entertain the kids. I rounded up some fun games and ideas for you to try this Thanksgiving.
- Thanksgiving Coloring Pages are a great activity when you want to calm things down a little.
- A Fall Scavenger Hunt is fun, if the weather cooperates.
- Printable Thanksgiving Games could be fun for kids or adults to play.
- Get out the board games, and set up rotating teams. This works great for the grown ups too.
- Pin the Tail On The Turkey- Cut a turkey out of brown construction paper. Make a turkey’s tail out of red, orange, yellow, and brown construction paper and let the kids try to pin it to the turkey.
- Have the younger children write letters to Santa.
- Thanksgiving Day charades.
- Have everyone sit in a circle and tell what they are thankful for this year.
- Tell some Thanksgiving Day jokes and riddles.
- Have them make Thanksgiving hand print turkeys.
- Do the Turkey Trot.
- If it isn’t too cold, head outside, divide into teams, and play a game of backyard baseball, basketball, or football. It isn’t often you have enough players to make teams, take advantage of the crowd.
Please share your favorite Thanksgiving day games and activities.

Great list! Thanks for including my handprint turkeys!
We did the handprint turkeys one year for Thanksgiving for our extended family – we did them as the placemats for everyone. They were a huge hit and my girls had such FUN making them. I need to do new ones this year since I now have three “big” girls (they were 3, 2 and 11 months last time – only the 2 and 3 y/o made them — now they are 5, 4 and almost-3). Thanks for the reminder of that fun gift for everyone!
