Today I have some Halloween cake ideas to share with you. The first one is from Paula Deen, check out this video to see how she makes a witches hat cake. It looks like it would be a fun and easy cake to make for a Halloween party.
You’ll need one large round cake and a large square or oval cake, with a nesting of round cake cutters that get smaller.
Check out Paula in the video for complete witch hat cake instructions:

Our local county fair is finishing up tomorrow. One of my favorite things to check out is the cake decorating competition. I always think I’m going to enter myself, but I never do. There are always some fabulous cakes entered. Some of my favorites this year were the in the baby shower category.
All of these cakes were behind glass, so they have a little glare.
My favorite baby shower theme cake was this one with all of it’s details and adorable fondant baby blanket.
The little rubber duck theme is very popular for baby showers. This duck cake would make an adorable …read more
It’s A Pizza Party!

All pizzas don’t have to have tomato sauce and pepperoni, and sometimes pizza can even be sweet. If you’re planning a pizza party, I have a sweet pizza cake, and a chocolaty pizza dessert for you to add to your pizza party menu.
First up, pizza cake. My sister made a pizza cake for her son’s birthday not too long ago. She made a large round vanilla cake for the deep dish crust, and topped it with strawberry jam for the tomato sauce.
Shredded white chocolate made the cheese, and she used red Fruit Rollups cut into circles for pepperoni, and yellow …read more
Groom’s Cake Ideas

The groom’s cake is a wedding tradition dating back to the early 19th century. It’s usually much smaller than the bride’s cake (the official wedding cake), and it often has a unique flavor that fits the tastes of the groom. Grooms cakes don’t have to be the traditional chocolate or vanilla, they can be any flavor the groom or the happy couple decide on, including strawberry, carrot cake, spice, or lemon.
Groom’s cakes have evolved through the years and these days they’re often created to include the groom’s personality. Here are some ideas just for the groom and his cake.

Like I mentioned earlier, my son wanted a Guitar Hero cake for his birthday party this year. So we had a Guitar Hero/bowling party. What a combination. I wasn’t sure I could make a guitar cake, but in the end it turned out fairly well.
I used a combination of butter cream icing and fondant to decorate the cake. I posted the complete instructions for making a Guitar Hero cake at Kid’s Fun Reviewed.

My son’s birthday is coming up, and he wants a guitar hero birthday party with all his friends, and a guitar cake. So I’ve been on a mission the last few days to find a guitar cake idea that I think I can actually make.
I found a couple rockin’ guitar cakes at Flickr, check them out:

What have I been doing for the last three days? Making this bear and bee cake for a baby shower I went to today. I baked the cakes on Friday night, did most of the decorating yesterday, with help from my sister, and finished up the decorating this morning.
I have the complete instructions for making the cakes at Kid’s Birthday Fun. It was the most ambitious cake I’ve ever attempted, and overall I was pleased with the results. It wasn’t perfect, but most of the flaws were minor.
