Many holiday parties are casual affairs with a few friends over to catch up on old times, have a good time with co-workers, or to catch a football game with some buddies. For those occasions it’s easier to make some snacks to let your guests nibble at while they’re chatting, or viewing.
Chips and dip are great, but why kick the standard chips and dip up a notch or two by making your own, and giving it a twist? Today I have a yummy mango dip recipe for you from Mission Menus.
It won’t take you long to throw together, and …read more
Spice Up The Party~ Southwest Taco Dip

In the fall and winter I like to spice up my parties, and since I’m a big fan of Southwestern cuisine I love spicy nachos, quesadillas, salsas, and guacamole dips. I love avocados, my favorite snack is avocados and corn chips, so whenever I find a new recipe for guacamole, or one that incorporates avocado I have to give it a try.
Avocados are easy to slice, just cut them in half, and pull out the seed. Then take a knife and dice the avocado while it’s still in the peel and then scoop it out. It’s that easy, especially when …read more

Here’s an easy, healthy Superbowl party snack idea from Tostitos. The recipe is very simple, and prep time is only about 15 minutes.
Southwestern Caviar

1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper

I love this recipe for Buffalo Chicken wings, you can use regular chicken wings, chicken breast strips or boneless chicken chunks to make them. I love making them with chicken breast strips, they’re fabulous!
I think I originally got this recipe from Emeril Live. I think I’ve made a couple adaptations to it since then (tweaked it a little to suit my own tastes). These wings make wonderful party appetizers.

With football playoffs, college bowl games, and the Super Bowl all coming up within the next two months I thought I should start giving you some football party and food ideas, and recipes.
Here’s a really cute idea from Wholly Guacamole.
Football season traditionally means tailgate time, play-off parties and a table of unhealthy dips loaded with calories–70 per tablespoon for spinach dip and a whopping 90 per tablespoon in buttermilk ranch. With Americans deriving an estimated 30 percent of their daily calories from outside traditional meals, the trend in party fare is to serve healthier options. At just …read more

Why should the host do all the work? If you really want your guests to get in the spirit of things, have them dress up in costumes appropriate to a Super Bowl party.
Ideas include dressing as a favorite football player, cheerleader, referee and even that one guy who shows up to the game wearing no shirt and the team’s logo painted on his chest. Bet your guests go all out for this one!
