a little bit of kindness goes a long way
I didn’t know it was take your kid to work day. Mine would have loved it, but that I had too many interminable meetings. Next year for sure, the King of Everything is coming to work with me.
One of the head honchos came up to my desk this afternoon, happy as a little kid, himself. In his hand was a copy of National Geographic’s magazine for kids, Explorer. It rocks. (There is also the National Geographic Kids for ages 6-12, and National Geographic Little Kids for ages 3-6). My co-worker was thrilled–”I got this for your son, look!” and he walked me through the glorious pages of ants in the front of the magazine. “I thought he would love this, it tells about all kind of ants, ants who dig, ants who make nectar, and cutter ants!” and he proudly turned the magazine over to me.
What a sweet, kind gesture. It made me happier than I can adequately describe, that this man I’ve known for only three months knows enough about my precocious son that he saw this magazine and thought if the King of Everything.
Thanks, J. We read the ant article tonight. The KoE went to sleep pretending to be a worker ant in his resting spot. I am going to go to sleep once again blessed by the amazing people who have become my family.
