Solo Mother

Halloween and the single mother

I was going to make the King of Everything’s Halloween costume this year. Honest. He wants to be Robin Hood (mostly to get the bow and arrows, I suspect), and I had it all figured out. I had to get some fabric, which made it rather a challenge, me without a car and all, living in the big city, not a decent fabric store to be had. OK, I’d figure it out. I had time.
But oh, when you havde to work on the weekend in October, and go to the doctor’s, and all that good stuff, there’s not enough time.

And when it rains for three days straight, the King doesn’t get to go on his field trip to the pumpkin patch.

And TADA! Grammie to the rescue. She found the King his costume, and she got him a pumkin last night. While I worked late last night, the two of them carved pumpkins.

And you know what? I am going to go trick or treating with my boy and my mom and my friends tomorrow. Thank you mom. I can’t wait!

Halloween can be a difficult time for single parents. It’s a lot of work and it all falls on one person. Hooray for your mom for helping out.
