Well, I finished the book a couple of days ago and my first thought when I saw the title was Wow! Nike let them use those three words in that order without filing some sort of copyright infringement lawsuit threats! As for the book…

Just Do It is a light and easy read about Doug and Annie’s wild adventure in today’s busy world with marriage, careers and kids. This is Doug’s diary from the conception of the challenge through to his musings in retrospect of the 101 consecutive days/ nights of sex and the daily grind ( no pun intended).

He discusses the planning they did. How they could pull off 100 days of sex, whether or bit they would use sex toys, lubes, and even porn to keep them in the mood. If they could keep things interesting for those 100 days.

He discusses the perks and rewards along the way, and even a few different venues for sex, not just your lights out, in bed, at night type of sex.

Like I said, it is an easy read, from Doug’s narrative viewpoint. I enjoyed the book and had to laugh a number of times at some of the times where it might seem they might not do the deed because of exhaustion, times of the month, as well as the kids lack of cooperation.

But, Doug the “Ginger whisperer” would come through, or a quickie would ensue, or they just did it, and the streak continued. It was something I could relate to as the father of eight.

Because of my own personal hang ups with sex, and the misconceptions that were instilled in me early on this would not have been a book I would have picked up for myself to read. Fortunately Marye and I have gotten past those issues and I have dealt with those problems.

Thanks Doug & Annie, for considering our opinions.

I recommend Just Do It.

Annie, we may need to hear more from your side of the story. It doesn’t give us enough from your perspective and lets face it, you were a major part of this story.

This isn’t a marriage building or how to improve your marriage type book, but more of a recreational read. And if you are married, with or without kids, a one ore two income family, you will find a lot in this book to relate to.

Keep up the good work.

So, Annie Brown so kindly sent Marc and I the book to review. In hard back even…I was impressed.
Just Do It is the saga (I think saga is a good word here) of Doug and Annie’s adventures in committing to have 100 + 1 days of sex.

Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night…nor unrelenting armchairs, stomach flu, or allergies would keep them from making love during the challenge period. Apparently not that either. Periods I mean.
If you have decided to read this book as sort of a titillating preamble to your own sexual adventure…don’t. It isn’t like that at [...]
Post from: Blisstree

So, Annie Brown so kindly sent Marc and I the book to review. In hard back even…I was impressed.

Just Do It is the saga (I think saga is a good word here) of Doug and Annie’s adventures in committing to have 100 + 1 days of sex.

Neither rain, nor snow, nor dark of night…nor unrelenting armchairs, stomach flu, or allergies would keep them from making love during the challenge period. Apparently not that either. Periods I mean.

If you have decided to read this book as sort of a titillating preamble to your own sexual adventure…don’t. It isn’t like that at all.

It is funny, and real in the best way, and at times, boring.

This is not a manual of different positions, or techniques or the 10 Places He Wants You to Touch …It is in every sense a diary of 101 days of the Brown’s lives. And, I think, a challenge to all married couples to make sex a priority. Where have you heard that before? (Hint…umm..from me)

There are areas that they were comfortable with that I would not have been. I despise porn in any form, hard, soft, or in the middle. I find it degrading and I think that in the long run it weakens a couple’s sex lives. The Browns viewed a couple of porn videos, and Doug attended a porn convention for his job as a journalist. It was not a big deal in the book, only a disappointment to me that this couple, who I felt like I “knew” in the pages of their book, would be involved with it. Sort of like Tiffany not liking my political views.

I very much enjoyed the insight I got into the male mind because the book was written by Doug, from his point of view.

I wish that there had been more of Annie’s thoughts expressed. I am hoping that she will grant me an interview so that I can find out what some of her thoughts were..stay tuned.

I personally did not find this unusual or weird, because I am unusual and weird, myself. The idea of 100 days, or 1000 days of sex is a great idea as far as I am concerned.

Whether we want to admit it or not we were created to need intimacy emotionally, spiritually, and physically and you just don’t get the full impact when one aspect is left out. I posted a recipe for espresso filled eclairs the other day on Baking Delights. Imagine them without one of the three components. Still good but not quite right. Eclairs with no filling are dry, with no glaze they lack intensity, and without the shell they lack substance. Intimacy must work in the same way. Emotions, Spirit, Physical working together to create a depth, passion, and substance.

Anyway..I do recommend the book I liked it alot. Marc will post his thoughts on the book a little later.
