About The “God” Thing…

First things first – For Me.
Secondly, from the Big Book, page 132 – “Each individual should consult his own conscience.” I am not here to impose my God on you!
I do, however, find that discussions along these lines always pique my interest. Especially when I feel like someone has displayed the enormous arrogance of individually acting as if they are God. (please – note I have said “I feel.” This is my perception. Your perception may or may not be different.)

Desi J. celebrated 35 years of continuous sobriety at The South Side Group here in Savannah last night. He has a favorite poem that he recites to us at meetings on occasion.

Ego Deflation?

An oldtimer taught me that the 12 steps of recovery were all about ego deflation and I came to believe he was right. Our literature tells me that intellect and humility can co-exist as long as we place humility first. It has been my experience that when I am egotistical (oh yeah, happens a lot) I get myself in trouble more often than not.
