I left all of you with a cliffhanger yesterday. I mentioned that I had rec’d the file of my adoption, and that I had discovered that I had a sister.
That was ten years ago. Soon after discovering this information my whole life turned upside down. My dad died, I moved in with my mom to help her out, and continued caring for my grandparents. While I still wanted to know about my birth family, I didn’t have the time or space in my life to do it.

A few weeks ago I was finally ready to begin my search. I entered my birth date and city of birth into one website that had some Wisconsin adoptions on it. Within an HOUR (yes, an hour!), I got an email from someone that said they saw the same birth date and city on another database. I checked out the website, and sure enough there was my birth mom’s name and what my name would have been.

Within just a few hours, I was able to contact (and hear back) from my birth mom and sister! And it turned out I had three sisters! Turns out they had been looking for me for a decade. I was able to find them so fast in part because of all the information they had put out there.

In just a few short weeks I have met my birth mom, and have talked to my sisters. It has been a positive thing thus far, and I look forward to getting to know these people as adults and friends going forward.
