This may become a regular series, the way we’re going! We had our home inspection this morning for the kitten fostering we’ve been looking into, and have been approved!

Within the next few hours we’ll be getting a litter of four kittens who will likely only be with us overnight, as we’ll have to take them into Petco tomorrow for an adoption event, and there’s a very good chance they’ll all find new homes. I’m very excited just the same, and think this is going to be a great experience for all of us.

If you’re interested in cat fostering, get ahold of someone at your local Humane Society, which is who runs the adoption events at the Petcos in my area (or talk to one of the volunteers at the store itself). We heard back from the coordinator within a few days of filling out an application, and the home inspection basically just consisted of making sure you have the room to keep the animals.

The Humane Society will provide all the necessities — from the food, to litter, even the litter box and, of course, vet visits if needed — so you won’t be out anything monetarily, except for a drive down to the pet store on the weekends to drop them off!

He’s also got his own little dog supply store, located at the link in his name!

The site itself is also a great resource for anyone interested in a rescued pet, and includes links for adoption information, what to do if you find a lost or stray dog, and shelter and rescue organizations.

Because of the heartaches that they have undergone for each miscarriage, they are now seriously considering adopting a baby instead. She asked me for my thoughts about it and I gave her my 100% support.

I think adoption or providing foster care is one of the most noble vocations one can have in life. I should know.

My daughter is adopted.

Not by me but by my Husband.

It was the best thing we ever did. When you show love to children, they will love you back. This rings true for me when I see my Husband and my daughter together. I have always been grateful that this loving man came into my life to complete us. What a difference this has made in our life.

How I wish other kids would find other compassionate and loving people to care for them. You could make a difference too in a child’s life. Adopt Us Kids can show you how.

Image: Adopt Us Kids

“All children deserve a safe, happy life — including the 496,000 American children and youth in foster care. Young people in foster care especially need nurturing adults on their side because their own families are in crisis and unable to care for them.

Each May, we salute the compassionate people who make a difference by serving as foster parents, relative caregivers, mentors, advocates, social workers, and volunteers. Thanks to these unsung heroes, many formerly abused or neglected children and teens will either safely reunite with their parents, be cared for by relatives, or be adopted by loving families.”

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit seeking to strike down a new law that bans any unmarried person who lives with a partner from serving as an adoptive or foster parent in the state of Arkansas.

You know – I understand that we have SO many kids who need good homes. There are many kids who are left abandoned and unwanted. I just don’t get why – if an adult has a job and can provide all the basic human needs for a child, why would anyone be denied the right to raise a child? To care for a child who may otherwise have no one?

Now there are times when the ACLU steps in and stirs the pot on issues that I just find to be a bit asinine! For instance, don’t tell me if I run a business that caters to the public that I can’t say “Merry Christmas” if I want to. If my customers don’t like it, let them take note and not return to my establishment in the future.

If I my kids want to bow their heads and pray at school, they should be entitled to do so.

To me there is a big difference between living and thriving day-to-day and simply acting on my rights as a human being living in a free country.

What do you think? Should anyone be denied the right to adopt of foster a child just because they may not be married or even worse yet, dare I say, Gay?
