Earlier, I introduced you to Terry Matlen, adult ADHD expert, in Interview with Adult ADHD Expert (Part 1). That part of the interview dealt with the challenges women with ADHD face with a focus on adults with ADHD who also have children with the disorder.

Terry Matlen, a psychotherapist and consultant specializing in adult ADHD, is one of millions of adults who has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). She’s also the founder of ADD Consults and author of Survival Tips for Women with AD/HD: Beyond Piles, Palms, & Post-its. Additionally, she’s a leader at ADHD Allies on Facebook.

Adult ADHD Sufferers

An estimated 9 million adults experience Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A recent nationwide survey (sponsored by McNeil Pediatrics), found that adults with ADHD generally agree that having the disorder greatly impacts certain areas of their lives, including the ability to focus at work, responsibilities at home and relationships.
A high number of adults surveyed, 68%, wished that people understood having ADHD doesn’t mean a person is less intelligent.
The survey also found that the symptoms that impact adult ADHD sufferers the most include: getting distracted easily, procrastinating, difficulties staying focused, listening during conversations and staying organized. More than half of employed …read more

Y’all know how I loathe talking about celebrities and mental health – unless, of course, the celebrity has publicly discussed the mental health issue himself. In which case, it becomes an excellent avenue for increasing public awareness about mental health.
