I’m offering a copy of A Glass Full of Tears, Dementia Day-By-Day by June Lund Shiplett as a giveaway here at Alzheimer’s Notes as part of the Bloggy Giveaways Carnival.

In this book, June Lund Shiplett shares the journal she kept during her husband Charlie’s encounter with multi-infarct dementia and the challenges she faced as his caregiver.  This is a particularly good book for a spouse caregiver since so many books are written from the child caregiver point of view, as mine was.

June Lund Shiplett is the author of numerous romance novels and is known to many readers of this genre.  Sometimes we don’t realize our favorite authors often face the same or similar challenges that we do.

A Glass Full of Tears Giveaway at Alzheimer’s Notes

 In the post, For Alzheimer’s Caregivers Considering an At-Home or eBay Income, I mention Suzanne Wells and her new blog at b5media, eShopOwner.com.

Suzanne has offered some additional insights for Alzheimer’s Notes’ readers:

 eBay is becoming more and more popular for the “sandwich” generation who are looking for additional means to bring extra income into the home, whether to save for retirement or to care for a parent or spouse.

eBay works great for caregivers or the homebound because sellers can interact with their customers and this helps with the isolation factor, and it gives the caregiver another focus, a hobby, and something fun to do to combat “caregiver’s syndrome.”

Whether the caregiver develops an e-business for a major income or as a hobby to interact with others and have contact with the “outside world,” Suzanne’s comments give us something to think about.

eBay Coach, Suzanne Wells, with Suggestions for Alzheimer’s Caregivers

Liz Lewis, my co-blogger here at Alzheimer’s Notes,  writes a very interesting and informative new blog at b5media, Traveling the Green Way.  Going “green,” traveling “green,” wearing “green”, in fact, anything “green” that helps save the environment has become a very popular word.  So this new Traveling the Green Way should fit right in with current worldwide interests.

Congratulations, Liz!  This is a very timely topic, so I know your blog will be widely read.  About 18 months ago, Liz decided to pursue her dream of becoming a full time writer.  She started a blog, My Year of Getting Published, detailing her experiences.  After about a year, she joined me as co-blogger here at Alzheimer’s Notes and is very enjoyable to work with. 

Since then, Liz has become co-blogger at Health Bolt, in b5media’s Health and Wellness channel.  Now she’s writing Traveling the Green Way, which expands upon her love of travel and travel writing.  (See her travel writing blog, Write to Travel.)
