Aluminium is often found in the brains of those with Alzheimer’s disease at a far greater level that those without the disease. Scientist remain unsure whether increased aluminium in the brain is the cause of the disease or whether the an increase in aluminium in the brain is the result of the disease itself. But they are sure about the fact the aluminium causes damage to the human body.

There’s an interesting article over at Scientific American.com asking the question ‘Do Antiperspirants cause dementia or breast cancer?’
According to this article ‘ The antiperspirant finger-pointing began more than 40 years ago with new discoveries about Alzheimer’s, a progressive dementia that affects more than five million Americans. Antiperspirants use compounds—such as aluminum chloride, aluminum chlorohydrate and aluminum zirconium—to form a temporary sweat duct plug. Researchers back then found that exposure to aluminum caused rabbits’ brains to develop nerve cell damage—thought to be a precursor to Alzheimer’s at the time—and long-term dialysis patients with high levels of the metal developed …read more

Several years ago people were alarmed that aluminum might be the cause, or at least one of the causes, of Alzheimer’s. So they tried to discontinue using anything with aluminum. Rabbits in the laboratory apparently developed symptoms similar to those found in humans with Alzheimer’s, according to one study.
Now some research indicates that rabbits in the laboratory using tap water containing copper developed Alzheimer’s symptoms while those drinking distilled water didn’t.
However, scientists advise caution about copper concern. The aluminum scare proved to be just that…a scare, some claim. Apparently one of the studies was flawed, and overreaction made people even …read more
