Joseph started writing a journal about his thoughts and experiences with his grandmother’s disease. And from this, a hand written book ‘My Grandma has Alzheimer’s too’ emerged.
The manuscript has yet to find a publisher. But if you want to see a page or two, check out the full article Helping Kids Cope.

Did you know that if you googled ‘blogs about Alzheimer’s Disese’ you would have 974,000 results to wade through.
Or if you googled ‘Alzheimer’s blogs’ the you would find over 1,260,000 results.
That’s way to many for anyone to go through in search for information.
So, to make it easier, I thought I’d list some of my favorite ones:
The Mom & Me Journals – an account of one caregiver’s journey in dealing with Alzheimer’s Disease
The Tangled Neuron – information about Alzheimer’s and dementia in easy to read language

It’s easy to learn and understand the dynamics and science of Alzheimer’s disease. But it’s also very important to understand the human element. These blogs let us do that in a very personal way…

I experienced much enjoyment teaching a memory journal workshop at the nursing home where my my mom lived for many years during her Alzheimer’s journey. The activities staff and I had to do most of the actual arranging of photos and pasting them. However, the residents chose those they wanted to use, as well as colors for page backgrounds and stickers for decorating.

I also found it fun, in a bittersweet way, to put together a memory album of my mom’s last years. I picked out photos of the good times I’d had with my grandchildren when we visited Mother. In just about all of those photos Mother had been smiling, so I hope our visits brought her pleasure.

I’m now sharing with others hints on how they, too, can create memory albums and journals. If they wish, I’ll suggest packets for them. Scrapbooking and preserving family history and memories is one of my hot buttons. I hope I can encourage others to attempt creating memory journals.
