The most beautiful sheep stable in the world? Now that’s a sentence I never thought I’d write.
And yet…
What did I tell you. This Almere sheep stable, designed by 70f Architecture, was recently named the World’s Best Pleasure Building at the 2008 World Architecture Festival Awards. Wood cladding and construction, curved girders of steel, and lots of resting space for the 80 sheep of Almere. I don’t know about the sheep, but I might be interested in moving in.
70f designs many wonderful things. In fact, I had no intention of showing this sheep stable when I woke up today. I had …read more
Quirky Places To Park Your Cat

I’m fresh out of human dwellings, so this is all you get today.
First, above is the pod-like Cat Cabin. It’s a little hidious, looking a little like a newly cracked egg, but I bet a kitty pal living in a hip abode would adore it.
Super Cool Pets has a whole other sort of Kat Kabin going on:
A wee bit mod, and kind of cool, what with the play on kitty body structure.
Lastly I’ve got something hyper weird. These are not truly cat dwellings but since they went and stuck cats on them, I suppose you could park a cat on …read more

I’m not a huge cat fan, but my pal Peggy is, which is maybe why she sent me this Offbeat tip about an Unbelievable Cat-friendly House Design from Japan.
Now, even though I’m far from pet friendly, I can’t helped but be impressed that someone would go to such kitty lengths in design. This home includes, “Open air cat walks, climbing steps, nooks throughout the house for cat hide-outs, cat doors in every door, extra space in the bathroom designed especially for a litter box, an enclosed deck area, and special fences to prevent cats from escaping.”

Ok blog readers, let’s put it to a vote.
Please check one answer.
$900 totally worth it for this __
$900! Are you insane __
Guess which answer I’d check?
In any case, this little guy seems pretty happy with his house – good thing too, because he’s probably working a part-time job in order to afford it.
All kidding aside, the Magis Dog House, is pretty hip; much more stylish than your average pet home fare. I LOVE the color, and if you’ve got an offbeat abode of your own, this will look oh so much more in sync next to it, then say…

If life as a little crab or fish or any ocean creature sounds like fun to you, then you have to check out the offbeat beauties from Senosiain Arquitectos.
The Nautilus House, is one of the more odd abodes I’ve seen lately, and is a literal shell of a house.
The home is a little hard to comprehend at first, but if you look at the layout it makes more sense.
If undersea mammals are more your style then the Mexican Whale home might suit you better.
Do you believe that this is a house? It surely is. It has a stunning interior you …read more

I know we just had a cow camper; and I don’t want to cow you out but… If I don’t post this I’d have to quit this blog because this is a simply stellar offbeat specimen of a building.
See what I mean.
Did Anyone Else Forget About the Contest?

Just kidding; I don’t forget stuff like this. I may have tucked the contest into the back of my head this week, but I’d never totally forget. Just a heads up to make sure you’re remembering to collect points for the Reader Appreciation Offbeat Homes Contest.
Hmmm, you know I probably could have thought of a much better contest name. Ah well. To make up for my sad, sad, naming abilities why not enjoy a small piece of the great outdoors. From your mobile cow camper home.
Tell me again why this is necessary? I mean other then the fact that it …read more
