Let’s think positively and assume that a dozen (or two) red Valentine’s Day roses will be arriving at your doorstep or office desk any minute now. Do you know how to make them look their best in a vase. Here’s how:
What you need:
A vase about half as tall as your roses
Green flower tape
Floral shears or a sharp knife

Let’s think positively and assume that a dozen (or two) red Valentine’s Day roses will be arriving at your doorstep or office desk any minute now. Do you know how to make them look their best in a vase. Here’s how:

What you need:

A vase about half as tall as your roses

Green flower tape

Floral shears or a sharp knife

1. Here’s the secret: using the floral tape, create a grid across the opening of the vase, using around four stips one way and four strips perpendicular to them.

2. Fill the vase with water that’s a little warmer than your body temperature.

3. Cut off the leaves and thorns that will be below the water line.

4. Cut off at least one inch from the bottom of the stem. (this will allow the roses to absorb water more easily)

5. Carefully insert the roses and greenery in the grid, working from the center to the rim

6. Keep the flowers away from direct heat or draughts.

7. Enjoy!
