Gifts with Humanity is a site that belongs to the Fair Trade Federation. Members are committed to providing fair wages and good employment opportunities to economically disadvantaged artisans and farmers worldwide. So you can feel good about purchasing artisan-made pieces from this site.
I found lots of clever items in the Home Decor section, including the wonderful tin lion shown below. This piece comes from Zimbabwe, where there are no lions. Other gift categories include wearables, stationery, dining, and instruments.

Fabric… it is an addiction and I have the most wonderful ideas when I buy it, I just have trouble actually cutting into it! you would think the world will end if I make a mistake, so I am happy to just have the fabric right now. It is starting to get a little difficult to store it all, time to actually MAKE things with it – hope this book can push me past buying and into creating!

David Roy’s kinetic sculptures

David Roy creates limited edition wooden kinetic sculptures that are seen throughout New England and online on David’s site, Wood That Works. David also has youtube videos of some of his work, like the one below. Creating these modern masterpieces since 1975, David’s studio is located in Connecticut, and while he might not always be available for studio visits, he does encourage his fans to email him and schedule a visit if possible.
