Viewing ATCs by Quilters

In a previous post, I mentioned the new book, 1000 ATCs (Artist Trading Cards), with photos of these playing card size pieces of art by quilters and fabric artists. Also, my daughter, Beth, had one of her ATCs selected for inclusion in the book.
As mentions at her Meandering Threads blog, the one she pictures there isn’t exactly like the ATC in the book. However, it’s very close and will give you some more inspiration if you’re inclined to make these works of art.

“Mom, my ATC [Artist Trading Card] is in the new book, 1000 Artist Trading Cards,” my daughter exclaimed.
Sure enough, when we received a copy of the book by Art Quilting magazine and edited by Patricia Bolton, there was an ATC by Beth Mastin (along with other quilters and fabric artists). Beth’s card also appeared in the magazine some time ago.
Chloe, who blogs at Tangled Thread, mentioned this book and is excited about it, too. It will be a “must see” book for those who are involved in making and trading ATCs.

ATC’s (Artist Trading Cards), those playing card size pieces of art made of a variety of materials, have become very popular in the art world and among quilters and fabric artists along with mixed media specialists, too.
*They’re quick to make.
*This is a way to experiment with new techniques without great expense.
*They’re fun to make.
*It’s enjoyable to trade with others.
A number of ATC artists post their work at Flickr: The Artist Trading Card Pool. You’ll be enthralled with the many types of trading cards these artists have created.
