The 162 foot (49 m) Currituck Beach Light Station on the Outer Banks in North Carolina, is one of four navigational beacons located along the Atlantic route from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina to Cape Henry, Virginia.
First lit in 1875, the lighthouse is the only lighthouse of the four which was not painted. While Dewey Beach is considered a bit of a wild summer beach town, drawing the younger party set from New York, Philly, Baltimore, and Washington, DC, it can be quite peaceful and relaxing during the rest of the year.
