While Dewey Beach is considered a bit of a wild summer beach town, drawing the younger party set from New York, Philly, Baltimore, and Washington, DC, it can be quite peaceful and relaxing during the rest of the year.
With year-round population of about 500, summer holiday weekends can grow visitors to over 30,000. Group houses rented for the summer are popular with tourists, who enjoy the beach and volleyball during the day.
The town’s nightlife is the after-beach focal point, including places like the Bottle & Cork (since 1936), and The Rusty Rudder, which are popular places for happy hour and live music.
